Our Problem Statement
In Rwanda, the rate of employment among the youth is on a declining trend and a key contributor to this problem is the skill mismatch in the market. Trading Economics says that, "In the last quarter of 2024, the unemployment rate was 14.7%". The challenging economic status of 6.8% inflation rate (National institute of statistics in Rwanda, in 2024) and a non standardized minimum wage further worsens the situations of unemployed youth. According to New Times, Rwanda's tourism revenue rose by 36% from 445$ million in 2022 to 620$ million in 2023. However, it is unclear whether this growth has translated into employment opportunities for the youth. How can tourism in Rwanda tackle the problem of youth unemployment and how can we target youth in job creation in tourism?

Our Solution
The solution is to create an app that will be able to make easy but effective communication between customers and Vendors. The app will function as a platform for vendors to display their services and products while getting real-time reviews, promotions, and collaboration. It allows businesses to contact and access their target customers, and customers get a chance to discover the market that they are potential customers in. It has several features: Connecting end-users through a request-based system, linking people to common destinations and interests, Digital platform to advertise local businesses and generate customers. Video pages that provide updates about services in real-time in the preferred language, customer hotlines for support, and easy communication are available in different languages. This solves communication barriers in business and the need for advertisement and promotion. The double benefit of the app is that it functions as a booking app for customers while also being an advertisement platform for all types of vendors. The customers will benefit from the 'link' feature, which allows them to see visitors from the same places and links them for group visitation. The app will be marketed on TikTok for younger users and Facebook for older ones. Another way that the business will be promoted to vendors is by word of mouth and on website listings. The unique thing about our app is that we combined various desired features into one functional app. It functions on both customer and vendor ends, contains booking, connects users through planned group trips, and supports businesses through promotions and advertisement.
